Series of 1973
BEFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COUNTY OF JEFFERSON,
STATE OF COLORADO.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge has become
increasingly aware of the problems that are being created by the
chang~ in County boundaries resulting from recent annexations by
the City and County of Denver; and
WHEREAS, the Council is aware of an initiative petition drive
to place upon the ballot an amendment to the Constitution of the
State of Colorado as set forth immediately below:
AN ACT TO AMEND ARTICLES XIV AND XX OF THE CONSTITUTION
OF THE STATE OF COLORADO CONCERNING THE ANNEXATION OF
PROPERTY BY A COUNTY OR CITY AND COUNTY AND PROHIBITING
THE STRIKING OFF OF ANY TERRITORY FROM A COUNTY WITHOUT
FIRST SUBMITTING THE QUESTION TO A VOTE OF THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY AND WITHOUT AN AFFIRMATIVE VOTE
OF THE MAJORITY OF THOSE ELECTORS.
and,
WHEREAS, this Council, after thorough investigation and due
consideration of the proposed Constitutional Amendment and petition
drive is of the opinion that the same is desirable and would be in
the best interest of the health, safety, welfare and morals of
the citizens of the City of Wheat Ridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Wheat
Ridge does hereby and herewith:
1. Approves and officially supports the proposed Constitutional
Amendment and initiative petition drive to place the question upon the
ballot at the general election to be held in November, 1974.
2. Vigorously urges the citizens of the City of Wheat Ridge
to support said same Constitutional Amendment and petition drive.
