HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1974-0272 INTRODUCED BY ALDERMAN Calvin Hulsey RESOLUTION NO. 272 Series of 1974 WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge must follow the Colorado State Trail criteria for construction and development of Phase One of the Bikeway Trails System located between Wadsworth Boulevard and Kipling Street along Clear Creek; and WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has received two grants, one for $10,000.00 from Colorado State Trails Committee and the second from Jefferson County Open Space also in the amount of $10,000.00; and WHEREAS, no bids were tendered on the first offering; and WHEREAS, at the second offering, one bid was received in the amount of $26,757.00; and WHEREAS, disapproval of this bid will result in another twenty- five per cent increase in development costs; and WHEREAS, approval by Council of an additional amount of $5,000.00 from account 452.15 will enable this project to proceed as scheduled; and WHEREAS, proposed development will provide an adequate hiking and biking program which presently does not exist; and, further, existing horse trails will be developed within the City of Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation Department through the Ranger Program; and WHEREAS, this will accomplish the purposes set out in Resolution No. 253, Series of 1973, passed by the Council on the 8th day of November, 1973; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The City Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of the sum of $5,000.00 from account number 452.15 to provide the additional funds needed to acquire, construct and develop the Bikeway Trails System, Phase I. Dear Mr. Mayor: It is my pleasure to advise you that the Board of County Commissioners has approved the funding of subject project in the sum not to exceed $10,000 through the Open Space program. Enclosed herewith is a certified copy of the Resolution passed by the Board of County Commissioners on December 26, 1973. Also enclosed is a Jefferson County claim voucher wherein you are to specifically describe the funds obligated or expended for the subject project in accordance with the purposes and intent of the Jefferson County Open Space Resolution, If you have any questions or we may be of any further assistance, please advise.
