RESOLUTION NO. 306
Series of 1974
WHEREAS, WALTER H. JOHNSON has been an employee of the City of
Wheat Ridge since the early days of its organization; and
WHEREAS, he has served with distinction in the position of
Administrator Program Coordinator, Director of Administrative Service6
and Director of Personnel during this time; and
WHEREAS, he has given capable leadership to the City Government
during its formative years and has been largely responsible for drafting
of the key ordinances and re60lutions which established the City on a
sound and efficient basis; and
WHEREAS, he has been directly responsible for the establishment
of the City's Civil Service System for police personnel and the merit
system for all other City employees, both of which have resulted in the
recruitment and retention of high quality City employees with career
incentive and minimized political intervention in hiring practices; and
WHEREAS, he has been readily accessible to all elected officials,
the City employees, Boards, Commissions and Committees of the City for
advice and counsel in administrative matters affecting the City Government;
and
WHEREAS, he has performed all of these duties faithfully and
with great dedication to the City of Wheat Ridge which has brought credit
on the City Government; and
WHEREAS, he has submitted his resignation effective May 10, 1974,
due to his desire to relocate to another state;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WALTER H. JOHNSON be hereby
commended for hi6 outstanding service in all of the above named functions,
duties and responsibilities for the City of Wheat Ridge during his tenure
of employment from September 9, 1969, to May 10, 1974.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 9th day of May, 1974, by a vote of
