A RESOLUTION URGING THE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION, COLORADO STATE
LEGISLATURE, TO DISAPPROVE AND REJECT PROPOSED BILL 54 CONCERNING THE
REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT (RTD)
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has received information con-
cerning a proposed Bill 54 being considered by the Committee on Trans-
portation to broaden the powers of the Regional Transportation District
(RTD); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge finds
that it is not in agreement with the provisions and intent of Bill 54;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE:
1. That the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge hereby
expresses its official disapproval of this Bill on the basis that the
proposed powers of eminent domain are not necessary for the operation
and administration of RTD and are not in the public interest.
2. That the District should not be exempted from any state
and local taxes on property of the District, as proposed in Bill 54.
3. That further expansion of the powers of RTD beyond exist-
ing legislation should not be approved.
4. That the City Clerk is directed to forward copies of this
Resolution to all members of the Board of Directors of RTD, the Colo-
rado Municipal League, and the City's Representatives and Senators in
the Colorado General Assembly.
