TITLE: A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONFIDENCE IN THE OPERATIONS AND
LEVEL OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE WHEAT RIDGE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND AFFIRMING AS A MATTER OF POLICY THAT ALL
CONSIDERATION OF CONTRACTING FOR POLICE SERVICES BE
TERMINATED AND THAT THE WHEAT RIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT
CONTINUE UNDER THE SAME OPERATIONAL PLAN WITHIN THE
CITY GOVERNMENT AS IN THE PAST.
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge Police Department is a functioning
department of the City of Wheat Ridge which has heretofore provided
setisfactory services to its citizens, and
WHEREAS, a proposal has been presented to the City Council
for contracting or Police services with another agency of local
government which would result in dissolution of the Wheat Ridge
Police Department in its present form, and
WHEREAS, this Council has concluded through its review
of the contract proposal that the best interests of the City of
Wheat Ridge would not be served by contracting for these services
with an outside agency;
WHEREAS, many citizens of Wheat Ridge have expressed a
preference to maintain the Police Department in its present form
in order to continue local control over its level of services,
cost, and operations,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Wheat Ridge hereby expresses confidence in the Police
Department, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all studies, efforts and conferences,
with respect to the proposal for contract Police services by city
officials be discontinued immediately, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, as a matter of city policy,
the Police Department be continued es a department of the city government
subject to annual bUdgetary review by this City Council as to programs,
levels of services, expenditures, manpowEr allocations, aDd other
related data.
