RESOLUTION NO. 502
Series of 1977
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge "Farmers" Girls Basketball Team won
the 1977 AAA Girls Basketball Championship for the State of Colorado in
a state-wide tournament held March 9 - 12, 1977, at the Denver Coliseum;
and
WHEREAS, the "Farmers" were decided underdogs among other
girls' teams in the AAA category and won the championship in the face
of considerable odds against other teams rated higher in this classifi-
cation of girls' basketball which was a credit to their effort, skill,
and team performance; and
WHEREAS, this achievement exemplifies the highest traditions
of competitive sports for girls' athletics and is a credit to the Wheat
Ridge coaching staff, the School Administration, and parents in the
development of this girls' athletic activity; and
WHEREAS, this victory has brought considerable honor and
recognition to Wheat Ridge High School, the Jefferson County R-j School
District, and to the City of Wheat Ridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Wheat Ridge High School
Girls AAA Basketball Team be publicly commended for its outstanding
efforts and success in the 1976-1977 girls' basketball season and as
Colorado State Champions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Jefferson County R-l School
District also be congratulated for its support and successful girls
basketball program.
