Series of 1978
TITLE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE CROWN HILL PROPERTY
FOR PARKS, RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE PURPOSES JOINTLY IN
COOPERATION WITH THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD AND JEFFERSON COUNTY
UNDER THE COUNTY OPEN SPACE PROGRAM
\~EREAS, the property known as Crown Hill located in Jefferson
County, consisting of approximately 182 acres, has been offered for sale
to the Cities of Wheat Ridge and Lakewood and Jefferson County by the owner,
and
WHEREAS, funds are available from Jefferson County Open Space Fund
to complete this purchase, and
WHEREAS, the three jurisdictions have received comments from many
citizens, taxpayers and groups in the area who support this acquisition, and
WHEREAS, citizen petitions have been received which indicate that
this property is needed and should be preserved for public use for Parks
and Open Space purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Wheat Ridge, that the Crown Hill property located in Jefferson County,
easterly of Kipling Street, between W. 26th Avenue and W. 32nd Avenue,
consisting of approximately 182 acres, be acquired immediately for Parks,
Recreation and Open Space purposes at a total price to be based on qualified
professional appraisals, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this purchase be funded on a joint basis
with contributions by Jefferson County and the Cities of Wheat Ridge and
Lakewood, from the allocated shares of each jurisdiction in the Open Space
Fund, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Wheat Ridge's share and contribution
shall not exceed
25
% of the total purchase price, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Commissioners of Jefferson
County be authorized and urged to act on behalf of the cooperating juris-
dictions to acquire this property as soon as possible.
