A RESOLUTION APPROVING LOCAL FUNDING FOR A WATER SYSTEMS PROJECT AS PART OF
THE SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT (HUD) AND COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL AFFAIRS, UNDER THE SMALL
CITIES PROGRAM OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG).
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge recognizes the need
for water system improvements to alleviate health and fire hazards to all the
residential and commercial structures in the project area, roughly bounded by
West 26th Avenue to West 29th Avenue, and from Sheridan Boulevard to Fenton
Street; and
WHEREAS, this project will meet imminent community development needs for
a majority of low and moderate income persons in the affected area; and
WHEREAS, the property owners in the Southeast Water Association requested
the assistance of the City; and have expressed the possibility of a local
contribution of $20,000.
WHEREAS, a local contribution of $50,000 from the City of Wheat Ridge will
increase the likelihood of a successful grant application.
WHEREAS, other sources of local fundinq may be available in addition to the
City1s $50,000, such as contribution from the Denver Water Board, Wheat Ridge
Water and others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridqe,
Colorado, that the City of Wheat Ridge hereby authorizes the expenditure of
$50,000 as part of the local contribution for the water systems project grant
applications and hereby authorizes the Community Development Department to
pursue other local funding sources for the grant applications.
