TITLE: RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT CONCERNING
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A COUNTY HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE RESPONSE
PROGRAM BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COUNTY OF
JEFFERSON, CITY OF ARVADA, TOWN OF BOW MAR, CITY OF BROOMFIELD,
CITY OF EDGEWATER, CITY OF GOLDEN, TOWN OF LAKESIDE, TOWN OF
MORRISON, TOWN OF MOUNTAIN VIEW, CITY OF WESTMINSTER, ARVADA
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, BANCROFT FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT,
COAL CREEK FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, ELK CREEK FIRE PROTECTION
DISTRICT, EVERGREEN FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, FAIRMOUNT FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT, GENESEE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, INTER-
CANYON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, INDIAN HILLS FIRE PROTECTION

DISTRICT, TRUM~UL FLATS FIRE DEPARTMENT, WEST ADAMS COUNTY
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, WHEAT RIDGE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
WHEREAS, on January 5, 1984, the Jefferson County Hazardous
Materials Study Cow~ittee was formed to recommend actions toward up-
grading the County's hazardous response capabilities; and
WHEREAS, final recommendations of the study committee have been
submitted for approval; and
WHEREAS, C.R.S. 29-22-l0l, mandates every city, town and county
to desiqnate an emergency response authority; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Wheat Ridge
to enter into the Intergovernmental Agreement which is attached to
this Resolution, in order to comply with the aforementioned mandate
by collectively utilizing equipment and promoting the safe handling
of hazardous substance incidents; and
WHEREAS, Section l4.2 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of
Wheat Ridge authorizes the City of Wheat Ridge, by Resolution, to enter
into intergovernmental agreements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City
of Wheat Ridge, that the Intergovernmental Agreement attached hereto
be approved, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign said Intergovern-
mental Agreement.
