HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1985-0966 RESOLUTION NO. 966 Series of 1985 TITLE: RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING SUPPOHT FOR MAINTAINING THE DESIGNATION OF THE DENVER REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (DRCOG) AS THE AREA AGENCY ON AGING (AAA). WHEREAS, the Older Americans Act of 1965 requjres States to des:ignate Area Agencjes on Aging which plan, coordinate and fund servjces for older people; and, WHEREAS, on February 8, 1974, the Denver Regional Council of Governments was des:ignated by the State of Colorado to receive and administer Older Americans Act programs for the eight-county Denver metropolitan area; and, WHEREAS, the Denver Regional Council of Governments has served eleven years as the state designated Area Agency on Aging for Colorado Planning and Management Region III which represents Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Douglas and Jefferson Counties; and, WHEHEAS, the Denver Regional Council of Governments serves local governments in the eight-county region and local elected officials participate in the development of aging plans, programs and the allocation of funds; and, WHEREAS, the Denver Regional Council of Governments has equitably administered the allocation process for funding senjor services in the past; and, WHEREAS, the Denver Regional Council of Governments is urged to continue its actions for equitable and increased allocatjon of funds to the Denver region; and, WHEREAS, the growth in the aging population and the :increasing needs of our older constituents are a concern for every local government. Local governments should participate in the planning and allocation of resources through effjcient, cost-effective regional programs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Wheat Rjdge that the City of Wheat Ridge supports mai.ntaining the existing ei ght-county planning and service area and maintaining the designation of the Denver Regional Councjl of Governments as the Area Agency on Agjng.
