HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1987-1020 RESOLUTION NO. 1020 Series of 1987 TITLE: A RESOLUTION CREATING THE RICHARDS-HART ESTATE ADVISORY COMMITTEE. WHEREAS the City has purchased the Richards-Hart Estate, and maintains the same as part of the historical heritage of the City of Wheat Ridge; WHEREAS the City Council wishes to appoint an Advisory Committee to provide direction to the maintenance and preservation of said property; WHEREAS the Richards-Hart Estate Task Force has functioned in the past as an effective entity in providing expertise to the City Council in the restoration of said property, and the City Council wishes to establish an Advisory Committee to perform similar functions in the future. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS: 1. There is hereby established the Richards-Hart Estate Advisory Committee, which Committee shall function exclusively relating to the Richards-Hart Estate and in so doing shall perform the following functions: 1. Safeguard the quality of the building. 2. Make recommendations concerning fees, regulations, procedures and damage deposits relating to use of the Richards-Hart Estate. 3. Solicit and collect furniture, kitchen accessories, and other miscellaneous items needed for operation of the property. 4. Arrange special events utilizing the property. 5. Continue the historical research which has been completed to date, and further to develop an educational program to compliment and to increase utilization of the property. 6. Be a nucleus for recruiting and training volunteers to serve as guides, proctors, and workers at the property for special events. 7. Work with the staff of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the accomplishment of the above-described tasks. 8. Work with the City, private groups, and others, as necessary, to obtain grants from appropriate agencies and/or entities and to recommend utilization of such grants in such a manner as to further enhance the restoration, maintenance, and use of the property. 2. The Advisory Committee shall be composed of no more than nine (9) members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval of said appointment by the City Council. Terms of office shall be three (3) years, with terms being staggered so that three (3) positions shall be filled by appointment or reappointment in each year.
