WHFREA~, the Wheat Ridge Lumber Company Property, lorated in Wheat Ridge, lolnrado, has been offered for sale to the City of Wheat Ridge hy the o~ner; and WHEREAS, this property is located in an area of Wheat Ridge ~herp the Parks and Open Space Plan recommends that addit.i"nal land be acquired; and WHEREAS, the City desires to investigate the value of this property under the Jefferson County Open Space program; and WHEREAS, the l'ity of \~heat Ridge has sufficient fundH in its share of the Jefferson County Open Space fund to appraIse this parrel of land; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, that the Jefferson County Open Space officials be hereby authorized and requested to secure a professional appraisal on the Wheat Ridge Lumber Company property as referenced in this Resolution, and to determine its fair market value. Commissioners present; Tom Macaluso, John McDermott, Beverly Phillips, Janice Thompson, and Sue Wilson. Staff present: Richard Bredt, Director, and Patricia Walsh, Secretary. DETERMINATION OF QUORUM With six commissioners present a quorum was established. APPROVAL OF MINUTES meeting of February seconded the motion Tom Macaluso moved that the minutes of the 18, 1988 be approved as submitted. Betty Day and the motion passed unanimously. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS There were no guests present. LAND ACQUISITION OFFER - MR. JAY CULBERTSON, 4245 OAK STREET Rich Bredt presented the Commission with a map and land survey of the property. He has met several times with Mr. Culbertson regarding this possible acquisition. Mr. Culbertson has expressed an interest in selling the strip, approximately one acre, bordering the creek or considering an easement. Janice Thompson moved that the Commission recommend City Council pass a resolution authorizing the Jefferson County Open Space to appraise and acquire this parcel of land for parks and open space purposes. The reasons are two-fold: to continue and complete that section of greenbelt, and in keeping with the desires of City Council to acquire additional land. The motion was seconded by Sue Wilson and passed unanimously. JOINT VENTURE APPLICATION RE: PARAMOUNT PARK Rich Bredt presented the Commission with a list of criteria and rating system finalized by the Jefferson County Open Space for park development projects. He told the Commission he would like to apply for partial funding for the park project at Paramount Park. John McDermott moved that the Department submit the application and request $100,000 to be used for Paramount Park. The motion was seconded by Tom Macaluso and passed unanimously. WHEAT RIDGE LUMBER COMPANY LAND ACQUISITION DISCUSSION The Commission discussed the letter received by McKee Realty concerning the sale of the Wheat Ridge Lumber Company land and buildings. The land acquisition on the south side would provide additional parking for the swimming pool and park area. Sue Wilson moved that the Commission recommend City Council pass a resolution authorizing the Jefferson County Open Space appraise the land on the south side of 44th Avenue for possible acquisition. The motion was seconded by Beverly Phillips and passed unanimously.
