RESOLUTION NO. 1142
Series of 1989
TITLE: RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION FOR LES LITHERLAND
WHEREAS, Les Litherland was named one of five 1989
Christa McAuliffe Educators by the National foundation for the
Improvement of Education; and
WHEREAS, Les Litherland was named Distinguished
technology Educator by the International Technology Education
Association in 1986; and
WHEREAS, Les Litherland was a Colorado finalist in the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration Teacher in Space
program and competed for Colorado Teacher of the Year in 1985;
and
WHEREAS, many of Les Litherland's students have won
numerous awards at industrial arts fairs attributing to his
teaching skills; and
WHEREAS, Everitt Junior High School has been fortunate to
have Les Litherland teach at the school for the past 23 years;
and
WHEREAS, the citizens and their children have benefited
profoundly from Les Litherland's professional efforts and
dedication;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
Council and on behalf of the citizens of Wheat Ridge extend
sincere appreciation and thanks to Les Litherland for his
distinguished service, and highly commend him for the manner in
which he has carried out his duties and responsibilities.
ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the City Council on
the 10th day of April , 1989.
