HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1991-1241 RESOLUTION 1'-10. 1241 Series of 1991 TITLE: A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL SUMS OF ~IONEY IN EXCESS OF AMOUNTS BUDGETED FOR THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO FOR FISCAL YEAR 1991. WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge Annual Budget for the fiscal year 1991 has been adopted through Resolution No. 1226 on the 26th day of November, 1990; and WHEREAS, the 1990 carryover fund balance to 1991 revenue is $50,156 greater than budgeted for 1991 due to the Panorama and Randall Park project being postponed in 1990; and WHEREAS, construction of the Panorama and Randall park project has been scheduled for 1991; and WHEREAS, a total of $50,156 is available for expenditure greater than originally budgeted for 1991. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado: A . That the additional sum of $50,155 be appropriated for expenditure in the Conservation Trust Fund, in 1991, for the purpose of constructing the Panorama and Randall Park project; and B. That the 1991 total appropriation for the Conservation Trust Fund be hereby increased from $219,286 to $269,442. DONE AND RESOLVED this 25th day of March , 1991. ~,,;;v Dan Wilde, Mayor ATTEST: lerk RESOLUTION NO. 1258 Series of 1991 TITLE: RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF COLORADO 2000 WHEREAS, the office of the Governor of Colorado has initiated "Colorado 2000 Communi ties," a statewide effort to improve the state's schools; and WHEREAS, one of the objectives of "Colorado 2000 Communities" is to gain statewide adoption of the six National Education Goals by school districts, community groups, service and civic organizations, government agencies and others; and, WHEREAS, "Colorado 2000 Communities" is designed to motivate citizens to take greater responsibility for the quality of their communi ty I s schools and to actively participate in the development and implementation of strategies which will lead to the attainment of the National Education Goals; and, WHEREAS, a sound educational system is fundamental to the economic stability of a community and a major factor in maintaining a high quality of life; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Wheat Ridge hereby Jo~ns other Colorado local governments in adopting the following six National Educational Goals; GOAL 1: Readiness for School. By the year 2000, all children in America will start school ready to learn. GOAL 2: School Completion. By the year 2000, the high school graduation rate will increase to at least 90%. GOAL 3: Student Achievement and Citizenship. By the year 2000, American students will leave grades 4, 8 and 12 having demonstrated competency in challenging subject matter, including English, mathematics, science, history, and geography. In addition, every school in America will ensure that all students learn to use their minds well, so they may be prepared for responsible citizenship, further learning and productive employment in our modern economy. GOAL 4: Science and Mathematics. students will be the first in the mathematics achievement. By the year 2000, U.S. world in science and GOAL 5: Adult Literacy and Lifelong Learning. By the year 2000, every adult American will be literate and will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy and exercise the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. GOAL 6: Safe, Disciplined and Drug-Free: By the year 2000, every school in America will be free of drugs and violence and will offer a disciplined environment conducive to learning. AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge pledges to urge its citizens, employees and others to become actively involved in the "Colorado 2000 Communities" process by participating in the development of local strategies and by becoming actively involved in carrying out these strategies.
