HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1991-1266 RESOLUTION NO. 1266 Series of 1991 TITLE: RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESSIONAL SUPPORT TO RE-AUTHORIZE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION ACT WHEREAS, Congress is scheduled to re-authorize the Surface Transportation Act; and WHEREAS, re-authorization or extension of the current Act is essential for the efficient movement of people and goods over our nation's transportation network; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE THAT Congress be urged to re-authorize or extend legislation specifically to: 1. Increase transportation funding; 2. emphasis on favors fuel Preserve an allocation formula that overall road mileage and land area, consumption; continues an not one that 3. Avoid increasing the amount of matching funds required to obtain the federal dollars from the current 10 to 15 percent range to the proposed 25 to 45 percent range; 4. Provide a specific role for local governments in the development of the National Highway System, the components of the re-authorization package, and decision making on how funds are spent in their jurisdiction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council hereby urges Colorado's congressional delegation to support Senate bill 1204 version of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1991.
