RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH
COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FEDERAL AID

WHEREAS, The Colorado Department of Transportation has
offered this Agreement under authority of sections 24-92-101, et
seg., 43-1-102, 43-1-106, 43-2-101(4) (C) and 43-2-144, C.R.S. as
amended; and
WHEREAS, The matching ration for this Federal Aid Off
system project is 90.00% Federal Aid funds ($8,100.00) and 10%
City of Wheat Ridge ($900.00) for costs eligible for Federal
participation; it being understood that all non participating
costs are to be borne by the city of Wheat Ridge at 100%; and
WHEREAS, Section 14.2 of the Home Rule Charter of the
City of Wheat Ridge that the Intergovernmental Agreement with the
Colorado Department of Transportation attached to this Resolution
be approved, and the Mayor be authorized to sign said
Intergovernmental Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved that: The City of Wheat
Ridge enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado
Department of Transportation for Federal Aid Off System Funds for
the design of the realignment of Field Street at West 44th
Avenue.

INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR ENGINEERING ON THE REALIGNMENT OF
FIELD STREET AT 44TH AVENUE

Attached please find a copy of a memorandum from the Engineering
Division, a resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement
and the Intergovernmental Agreement regarding a realignment
project at Field st. and 44th Avenue.
The road realignment project has qualified for hazard elimination
funds. Federal funds, as administered by the State, are
available to reimburse the City for 90% of the cost associated
with the road realignment project. The attached material also
includes a schematic drawing indicating the area of realignment.
As members of the Council will note, the realignment is proposed
for the south section of Field Street at the intersection of 44th
Avenue. This section of Field Street serves as the access point
for the Anderson Building and Wheat Ridge Park. As indicated on
the schematic drawing, the realignment would move the affected
portion of Field Street approximately 75 feet to the east so that
it aligns directly opposite the northern leg of Field Street at
the intersection with 44th Avenue.
The attached agreement provides only for engineering services.
If the agreement is approved, the City will be eligible to
recover 90% of its cost as the design is prepared for this
particular project. It is anticipated that the City of Wheat
Ridge would perform necessary engineering services and receive
reimbursement from the State and Federal government for this
particular project.
Once the project has been engineered and approved by the State,
an actual agreement relative to construction of the project would
be brought to the attention of the members of City Council.
It is recommended that the attached resolution approving an
intergovernmental agreement with the COlorado Department of
Transportation a the project at 44th and Field street be
approved.

Attached please find a copy of the intergovernmental agreement
between Wheat Ridge and the Colorado Department of Transportation
for engineering and design of the realignment of Field Street at
44th Avenue. The language of the agreement has been previously
reviewed and approved by the city Attorney.
We expect to continue the review and coordination process with
the CDOT this year and advertise and construct the project in
1993. The construction portion of the project will require an
additional IGA with the CDOT. This should be ready for
processing in late 1992 or early 1993. The project is currently
scheduled for construction in 1993.
Please place this item on the city Council Agenda for the regular
meeting of the l4th of September.
