HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1992-1314 RESOLUTION NO. 1314 Series of 1992 TITLE: A RESOLUTION TEMPORARILY WAIVING BUILDING PERMIT FEES FOR HOME HEARTH APPLIANCES - SECTION 304 OF THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE. WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has adopted the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1988 Edition; and WHEREAS, that Code sets forth the requirement for a permit fee for Home Hearth Appliances; and WHEREAS, the Denver Regional Air Quality Council has adopted a program called "The Great Stove and Fireplace Changeout" which encourages the replacement of wood and/or coal burning fire places and stoves (solid fuel-burning devices) with clean burning devices which meet the most stringent air pollution emission standards; and WHEREAS, the City Council determines and finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Wheat Ridge to support this program so that there may be long-term benefits to the community, region and state. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado: l. That the provisions of Section 304 of the Uniform Mechanical Code, relating to permit fees shall be waived for the installation of a decorative gas appliance or Phase III certified solid fuel-burning device as defined in UMC Sec. 802, or other solid fuel-burning device meeting the most stringent emission control standards for regulations promulgated by the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission, as demonstrated by a test by an E.P.A. accredited laboratory. 2. This waiver of permit fees for qualified devices shall be effective between the date of adoption of this resolution and September 30, 1993. DONE AND RESOLVED this 28th day of September, 1992.
