TITLE:
RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CITY OF LAKEWOOD, ARVADA, CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE AND OTHER MUNICIPALITIES RELATING TO THE
CREATION OF A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE
AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, a Household Hazardous Waste Storage Authority
(HHWSA) is proposed to construct and to operate a permanent
household hazardous waste drop off facility at the old Rooney
Road landfill; and
WHEREAS, the hazardous waste drop off facility is
intended to be available to participating municipalities for two
major purposes: 1) Resident drop off of any house;hold
hazardous materials on a schedule approved by the HHWSA
management committee; and 2) A storage facility for any
hazardous materials seized or obtained by participating police
departments; and
WHEREAS, the projected capital cost for the city of Wheat
Ridge is approximately $36,000; and
WHEREAS, Section 14.2 of the Home Rule Charter of the
City of Wheat Ridge requires that all intergovernmental agree-
ments entered into by the city be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge has
agreed to enter into the attached Intergovernmental Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, as follows:
I. That certain Intergovernmental Agreement between the
city of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and the cities of Arvada,
Lakewood, and other municipalities, and the County of Jefferson
regarding creating a household hazardous waste storage authority,
which is attached hereto, is hereby approved.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute
said Intergovernmental Agreement.
