TITLE: RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ZONE IN
THE VICINITY OF SHERIDAN BLVD. AND W. 38TH AVE.
WHEREAS. pursuant to Wheat Ridge Code of Laws, Chapter 22,
Article II, Division 6, City Council may establish Business
Development Zones (BDZ) to improve business development and
redevelopment for the purpose of increasing sales and use tax
revenue to the City; and
WHEREAS, there exists in the vicinity of Sheridan Blvd. and
W. 38th Ave. a commercial area that has unrealized development
and redevelopment opportunities that would benef1t the citizens
of the City of Wheat Ridge by expanding the sales and use tax
base, improving deteriorating and blighting conditions, and
providing expanded business opportunities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Wheat Ridge
City Council hereby establishes the Sheridan & W.38th Ave.
Business Development Zone that includes those properties as shown
on attached Exhibit A. This provides any property owner located
within this BDZ the opportunity to apply for participation in the
BDZ Program, however, it does not guarantee approval of any
particular application. City Council, in their sole discreation,
shall consider applications for BDZ Program participation based
upon compliance with requirements set forth under Wheat Ridge Code
of Laws, Article II, Division 6.
