RESOLUTION NO. 1430

TITLE:
A RESOLUTION FOR EXPANDED LIBRARY SERVICES AND FACILITIES
IN THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE.
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has been a participant
in the Jefferson county Library system since the inception of said
systemi and
WHEREAS, at present the city of Wheat Ridge is only
served by an undersized branch of the Jefferson County LibrarYi and
WHEREAS, Wheat Ridge residents do not have conveniently
available library services available to other portions of Jefferson
CountYi and
WHEREAS, on an annual basis the City of Wheat Ridge
contributes significantly more property tax dollar resources to
operate the Jefferson County Library system than are actually
utilized to provide services in the City of Wheat Ridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge, that the Jefferson County Library Board, and
the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, be hereby requested to
engage in discussion and negotiation with representatives of the
City of Wheat Ridge to expand both the library services available
in the City of Wheat Ridge and library facilities conveniently
available to Wheat Ridge residents, as a priority project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event progress on the
provision of expanded library services and facilities is not
evident in a reasonable period of time, Wheat Ridge representatives
shall be empowered to explore and discuss other options beyond
those currently available to provide desired library services to
the City of Wheat Ridge.
