RESOLUTION NO. 1583

TITLE:
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE STATE LAND BOARD
INITIATE A PROCESS TO DISCUSS THE USE OF STATE LAND
PROPERTY ON THE BORDER OF WHEAT RIDGE AND ARVADA FOR
RECREATIONAL AND OPEN SPACE PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has worked diligently
within the community to procure and develop sports fields,
playgrounds, and open space for the use of the citizens of the city
of Wheat Ridge; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has worked cooperatively
with the Jefferson County Open Space Commission and the R-1 School
District to develop said facilities; and
WHEREAS, the needs for recreational fields and open space
have outstripped the space available within the City of Wheat Ridge
to fulfill said need; and
WHEREAS, the State Land Board does control a significant
property resource on the north border of the city of Wheat Ridge
and the south border of the City of Arvada;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Wheat Ridge city
Council that the State Land Board is hereby requested to initiate
a process to review and discuss the feasibility of utilizing State
Land Board properties that fall on the northern border of Wheat
Ridge and the southern border of the city of Arvada for
recreational and open space purposes to provide a regional benefit
to citizens in each of their respective communi ties and other
adjoining communities.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 10th day of February, 1997.
