HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1997-1630 CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 1630 Series of 1997 TITLE: A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE SALES AND USE TAX INCENTIVE PERIOD TO PROVIDE DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVES TO THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN BOTTLE COMPANY FOR THE MODERNIZATION AND EXPANSION OF ITS BOTTLING FACILITY IN THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE WHEREAS, the Rocky Mountain Bottle Company, a Colorado general partnership owns and operates a bottle manufacturing facility in the City of Wheat Ridge; and WHEREAS, said bottle manufacturing facility is located in a Wheat Ridge enterprise zone, and WHEREAS, the bottle manufacturing facility employs several hundred people and pays significant sales, use, and property taxes to the City of Wheat Ridge; and WHEREAS, the Coors Brewing Company, the predecessor to Rocky Mountain Bottle Company, proposed a major modernization of the bottle manufacturing facility resulting in employment of additional persons and increases in the amount of sales, use, and property tax paid to the City of Wheat Ridge, and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 1462, Series of 1995 and by a Tax Incentive Agreement dated June 15, 1995, the City of Wheat Ridge provided sales and use tax and real and personal property tax incentives to Coors Brewing Company to facilitate expansion and modernization of the bottle manufacturing facility, and WHEREAS, the Rocky Mountain Bottle Company has requested an extension of the sales and use tax incentive period to facilitate the completion of Phase III of the bottle manufacturing facility modernization; and WHEREAS, such tax incentive period extension will not result in any increase in the amount of sales or use tax incentives to be provided pursuant to Resolution No 1462 and the Tax Incentive Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Wheat Ridge City Council, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Rocky Mountain Bottle Company amending the Tax Incentive Agreement dated June 5, 1995, by extending the sales and use tax incentive period to facilitate the completion of the proposed expansion and modernization of the glass manufacturing facility within the City of Wheat Ridge.
