A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A
METROPOLITAN-WIDE PUBLIC SAFETY AIR SUPPORT
AUTHORITY FOR THE SEVEN COUNTY METROPOLITAN
COUNTIES
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge City Council finds that aircraft and, in particular,
helicopters are becoming an essential tool for public safety; and
WHEREAS, helicopters can be used by law enforcement, fire fighters, and various other
public safety agencies to carry out their missions in an effective and efficient manner; and
WHEREAS, the greater metropolitan area of Denver presently has very few aircraft
available for use by the various public safety agencies; and
WHEREAS, the costs ofpurchasmg and maintaining aircraft, and in particular,
helicopters are extremely high and place a great burden on any single governmental entity which
decides to engage in such activity; and
WHEREAS, the most reasonable and cost-effective manner to provide aircraft and
especially helicopters for public safety functions, is through a cooperative metropolitan area-wide
effort.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat
Ridge, Colorado, that the Wheat Ridge City Council supports the concept of a metropolitan-
wide Public Safety Air Support Authority.
