OF SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT
WHEREAS, On September 11,2001, terrorists hijacked and destroyed four passenger airplanes,
causing two to crash into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third into
the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a fourth in Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of innocent people were killed and injured as a result of these attacks,
including the passengers and crew of the four aircraft, workers and visitors in the World Trade
Center and in the Pentagon, rescue workers and bystanders; and
WHEREAS, This tragic event has caused great sadness across the country and around the world; and
WHEREAS, The perpetrators of this attack drastically underestimated the will and resolve of the
American people, who have drawn together and shown unshakeable spirit; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of Wheat Ridge, Colorado,
do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of the
victims of these ruthless and brutal attacks; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby honor those brave and selfless men and women who
have responded to these tragic events with courage, determination, and skill; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby condemn in the strongest possible terms those
responsible for the September 11,2001 attack against the United States of America; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to the Mayor and
City Council of New York City and to the Secretary of Defense as a token of our sympathy,
support and solidarity; and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the
United States of America, the Colorado Congressional Delegation, and the Governor of the
State of Colorado.
