A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE ENDORSING THE EFFORTS OF LOST AND
FOUND, INC., TO CREATE THE LARGE BOUQUET IN
RECOGNITION OF THE CITY'S INCORPORATION
WHEREAS, in the 1940's through the 1970's, Wheat Ridge was known as the Carnation
Capital of the world; and
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival is held the third weekend in August to
celebrate the incorporation of the City and the heritage ofthe community; and
WHEREAS, a parade IS held in Wheat Ridge on Saturday of the Carnation Festival
weekend; and
WHEREAS, Lost and Found, Inc. plans to enter a float ofIive carnations in the Carnation
Festival parade August 17,2002; and
WHEREAS, the 1998 Guinness World Record for the largest bouquet is 28,801 and Lost
and Found Inc., would like to break the world record for the largest bouquet by having one
carnation for each of the 32,913 residents; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge,
Colorado, do applaud the effort of Lost and Found, Inc., to celebrate the heritage of Wheat
ridge as the Carnation Capital of the world by construction a float of32,9I3 carnations.
