RESOLUTION NO. 08-2003

TITLE
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
CONTAINED IN THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
STATEMENT PREPARED FOR THE WEST CORRIDOR PROJECT
WHEREAS, the west corridor rapid transit project has been contained in the
Denver area RegIOnal Transportation Plans for over 20 years, and,
WHEREAS, a Major Investment Study (MIS) completed in 1997 recommended
Light Rail as the preferred alternative, and,
WHEREAS, the same MIS recommended the AssocIated Railroad line through
Lakewood to the Denver Federal Center and then to the vicimty of US 6 and US 40 If
increased funding could be secured, and,
WHEREAS, the Denver Regional CouncIl of Governments amended theIr 2020
RegIOnal Transportation Plan to include the west corndor from the Denver Central
BusIness District to south of Golden, and,
WHEREAS, the CountywIde Transportation Plan adopted in 1998 supported
these findings, and,
WHEREAS, the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) published by the
RegIOnal Transportation Distnct (RTD) and the Federal TransIt Administration (FTA)
confirm that this IS the appropnate technology and selected an alignment along US 6 to
the Jefferson County Government Center
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the CIty Council of the CIty of
Wheat RIdge, that:
SECTION I. The City of Wheat Ridge supports the alignment proposed In the
Draft EnvIronmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
